IHEEM & IFHE/IFHE EU COVID-19 Worldwide Update Issue 3
08 mei 2020
Welcome to the latest edition of the IHEEM, IFHE & IFHE EU Worldwide Update.
Feedback on previous issues has been extremely positive. It is now clear that COVID-19 impacts differently on our members as the global situation continues to rapidly change but it is reassuring to know that, regardless of whatever stage of the pandemic is most relevant to your local needs, these newsletters are a valuable source of support to help you in this fight.
Amongst the articles in this issue you will find detailed guidance from WHO on design standards and recommended layouts for treating COVID-19 Sever Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) patients in differing care locations. You can also read the early findings from research undertaken by Cambridge University on the dispersal of airborne virus as well as guidance from The Specialised Ventilation for Healthcare Society (SVHSoc) on consideration for all aspects of ventilation of Healthcare Facilities in response to Coronavirus. IHEEM's Fire Safety Technical Platform provides a series of important fire safety guidance notes, along with an interesting paper setting out considerations to how Emergency Departments may need to respond following COVID-19.
Finally, I would encourage everyone to take the time to read the personal account and frontline experience from one of IHEEM's members Claire Hennessy from the Birmingham Community Healthcare Trust in the UK. The professional, emotional and well-being support that her estates team have given to their colleagues across all areas of the Trust workforce is both moving and inspiring. Please share with us your own personal experiences as these will help others to plan and deal with the ongoing demands of COVID-19.
Stay safe and once again, thank you for your help and support.
Pete Sellars, CEO, IHEEM & President, IFHE-EU
